Spring hasnt sprung...yet :(

So, Im sure everyone is complaining about how spring hasn't come around the corner yet. But seriously, I'm sick of winter. Things look really blah right now, everything is covered with dirty snow or dead grass and leaves. But I know its coming sometime soon...at least I hope! I just thought I would update you on the happenings as of late.

Matt and I bought a new vacuum! It is the best vacuum and im totally grossed out to see how much our old one wasn't working! I have pics, and will post them later, you'll see!

We also bought a computer! I know Angela, its about time. (it isn't even a new computer, we bought it used from my bro T-rev) But we love it like we would a brand new one. It was a painstaking process to pick an internet provider (at least one that we could afford :) ) We also got some new furniture and rearranged like every room in our house. We feel like we are making advances in life, getting a vacuum and computer! My friend Angela had a blog post about feeling accomplished, and thats how this weekend was for me! Our house looks great because of all of the deep cleaning I do when we move furniture. Too bad it wont stay that clean for long!

Yesterday, Matt and I got to babysit Rigdon, and man was it fun! I know I tell everyone that I want to steal him from Trever and Kristin, but sometimes I just wish he was mine :) I gave him a bath because he was really tired and pretty pouty. I knew it would cheer him up, at least for a little while. Boy was I right! He kept putting his hands by his head and pretending to lay down in a sleeping position, and I would say "night night Rigdon" and then he would look at me with one eye open and I would say "good morning!", and he would sit up and just laugh and splash the water all over. We probably did that little routine 30 times. He was just having the time of his life! And I guess I was too! Matt just thought we were crazy. He is such a cutie! I love you Big Rig :) Were lucky to have him so close.

The Favre-rite Retires!

As you start reading this please take a moment of silence to pay respect to the end of an Prolific Era. Brett Favre, Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers officially announced his retirement on March 4, 2008. As you may or may not know, Matt is the most loyal fan in the history of fans of the Packers, and especially Brett Favre. That was a very sad day in our house!

At his retirement speach he said that after 17 years as the starting quarterback for the Packers "I've given everything I possibly can give to this organization, to the game of football, and I don't think I've got anything left to give."
Even though Matt (and other fans) toyed with the idea of his retirement possibly coming after the end of the 2007 season, it still came as a bad surprise to my honey. He had even made a bet with BFF Derek McClellan (devoted fan of his homestate pride--Seattle Seahawks) that the Packers would go farther in the post 2008 season than the Seahawks, and Matt Hasselbeck. I guess we owe Derek 20$. :(

Some stats from his incredible career:

  • 17 year starting QB for GB Packers

  • All time leader in touchdowns (442)

  • All time leader in completions (5377)

  • All time leader in attempts (8758)

  • All time leader in yards (61655)

  • 160 victories making him rank first all-time (previously held by Dan Marino w/148)

  • 253 consecutive starts (He never missed one game)

  • 11 postseason appearances
  • 7 division titles
  • 4 NFC Championship games

  • World Championship Super Bowl XXXI

  • 2007 Sportsman of the year for Sports Illustrated

  • All time record for TD passes in a single stadium (209 at Lambeau field

  • Most seasons with at least 300 completions (16)

  • Most seasons with 3000 passing yards (16)

The Uganda Project

in Dec 2007, my brother James went to Uganda as part of a Humanitarian Effort and a group called Engineers Without Borders. They helped build schools and had many projects lined up to help out. They also had a blog as a travel log of sorts. They did alot of fun things, but it was a lot of hard work! After they were done with all of the hard work, they got to go on a Safari, and Bungee Jumping on the Nile. The video is on you tube. He had a great time, and really wants to go back! He brought Matt and I an African painting that is on bark instead of canvas. It is really cool. We have it hanging in our dining room.
While he was gone we missed him a lot! He sent a few emails but I think internet service was pretty sketchy in Uganda, so it was hard for them to get to computers often. Mom and Dad bought him a camera and some safari clothes for Christmas, since he left the beginning of Dec and didn't come back until the beginning of Jan. They wrote him a cute letter and gave him a card that sang a Christmas song for him to open on the 25th. It was really sad to not have him there on Christmas. Im so glad he had so much fun, and got to do it! Youre soo cool James!!! :)

Almost Famous

If anyone was wondering why my post is called almost famous its because Matt, and I and a few select friends totally hung out with Chris Cooley this weekend!

I know there are probably some skeptics thinking ya right. But I swear it is the truth! Here is the story...Friday 2-29-08 a bunch of our friends were out at a local eatery having a great time watching the Jazz game, all of the sudden we couldn't find Cody, so as we are looking around for him, we see that he is chatting it up with who? Chris Cooley. He plays for the Washington Redskins, and is a Utah State Alumni and former Aggie football player. You might also recognize him for being in the Pro-Bowl 2008!!! Pretty much the most famous person from Cache Valley! We totally talked to him and hung out with him all night. Matt told him how much he loved the packers but always cheers for the home crowd, so we are definitely fans! (claims in this post may not be entirely accurate we totally saw him and were definitely star struck!)
